Maharashtrian Thali
Janseva Bhojanalaya is one of the iconic Maharashtrian restaurants in Deccan serving authentic Maharashtrian Thali for the last 75 years.Located near the busy Garware Bridge in deccan gymkhana area, this casual dining place provides a good, simple, clean and no-frills dining experience.
Maharashtrian Thali served here is simple and has an authentic Puneri taste. The spice level is less and flavours are well balanced.Thali includes roti, 2 dry vegetables, 2 vegetables with gravy, amti, kadhi, 2 types of koshimbir/raita, 1 snack item (matar karanji/samosa/dahi puri etc) 1curd and 1 sweet dish, khichdi, rice, dal, pickles and papad (all items except curd and sweet dish are unlimited). The dishes keep on changing every day. The combination of dishes is excellant and provides a right balance of flavours. No dish is oily or greasy and taste is very simple and homely. We found the radish koshimbir to be the stand-out item in the whole thali – this item is served daily in the thali and doesn’t change.
Special items like dahi vada, aluchi bhaji and masala bhat are available only during week-ends – these items are must try items, so we recommend going on week-end to try these.
