It is an amazing and very unique cream like desert available only during winter season in very few North Indian cities (in Benaras called as Malaiyyo and in Lucknow called as Makkhan Malai). It is very fluffy and light with a taste is similar to whipped cream and melts in the mouth. It is prepared overnight by boiling milk and whipping cream out of it overnight. Two types of cream (one normal and one with kesar) are prepared and then mixed and served with khurchan(khoya/mawa) powder and sugar powder.

There are couple of famous vendors - Khemchand and Dhaniram Rakesh, who serve this dish in small thelas across Chandni Chowk area of Old Delhi. This dish is available only during winter months (Oct end to Jan end). You can ask around for this Thela in Chandni chwok area. Some of the prominent areas are around Paranthe Wali Gali and Galiyari Samaj in Sitaram Bazaar.
