Chole Bhature
Sitaram Diwanchand is one the oldest and iconic Chole Bhature shops in Delhi.
Chole Bhature served here are iconic and represent the typical Delhi taste. Bhatures are soft and thich and have a sprinkling of shredded panner inside it. Chole is dark/black in color, thick, flavourfull and spicy. Chick peas are tender & well cooked (with very little or no bite) and melt in the mouth. Like elsewhere in Delhi, It is served with onion slices, pickle and green chutney. However unlike other food joints, the bhatures here are not served fluffy and hot right from Kadhai. They are already prepared in advance and stacked. While ordering, the bhaturas are warmed up and served. Still the taste is quite good and unique.
We also tried Radhe Shyam and found them to be slightly better than these as the chole there is less spicy and bhatures are served hot and fluffy.
Chole Bhature is one of the most popular and iconic foods in Delhi. Served in small thelas, sweetshops or large restaurants – you find them everywhere in Delhi and adjoining areas like Noida and Gurgaon. It is served in all major functions and festivals. The dish is intertwined with the Partition of India in 1947. Some say that Peshori Lal Lamba, a refugee from Lahore, introduced it to Delhi. Others say that Sita Ram, who migrated from West Punjab, sold the first plate in Delhi
