Chole Katlambe is a local street food found only in Dehradun and served only in handful of places in Dehradun. It is a local street food and available only on thelas or small shops. Katlamba is very similar to Bhatura, but is more fermented and flaky (like patties). Flour (maida) dough balls are rolled and then deep fried (just like bhatura), but the result is not a puffed up bhatura. Instead it is large, flat and crispy circular katlamba which is then cut into 4 pieces and served with chole.
Mamaji Chole Katlambe Thela has been there in the busy Paltan bazaar area since last 56 years and is one of the most popular thelas in the area. Chole is served in dry as well as well as gravy form and served along with onion rings, carrot/green chilli pickle and sprinkled with masala.

Restaurant Description

Mamaji Katlambe Chole Thela has been there in the busy Paltan bazaar area since last 56 years and is open from 7 to 5 pm through out the week. It is a small thela run by Mukesh Prajapati. It is one of the very few thelas/shops serving Katlambe Chole and it is usually very crowded specially on weekends and early morning. Make sure to come to this place in the morning as the chole becomes diluted by closing time and loses some of its flavour.
